Father Anton's Weekly Column
The blessing of palms this weekend marks the beginning of Holy Week, the most Sacred and important time in the life of the Church. Easter Vigil and Easter Day mark the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus. By his rising to new life, he promises us hope, salvation and eternal life.
This week we celebrate the Triduum, which consists of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. These services are markedly different from what we might celebrate on a normal Sunday. Maundy Thursday has the “Washing of the Feet” of twelve representative disciples, the renewal of “Eucharistic Ministers” promises for the year, the stripping of the altar and procession of the “Blessed Sacrament” to the side chapel, watching until midnight. Please note that the times of next weekend Masses are different from the usual times!
