Father Anton's Weekly Message

Third Sunday of Easter - Year C
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
“Habemus Papam,” We have a New Pope, Leo 14th, previously known as Cardinal Robert Prevost. He is the 267th pope of the Catholic Church. Let us pray for him and his vocation of service to the Church and the World. We also pray for the eternal rest of Pope Francis, our beloved and recently deceased Holy Father. Pope Leo is an American who has spent many years as a missionary in Peru as well as time in Rome under the care and guidance of Pope Francis. He too, like our previous pope is a member of a religious order, this time the Augustinians.
Interestingly this Sunday is also designated as a day of prayer for vocations, and so may our new Holy Father be an inspiration to service of the people of God and the world at large. Let us pray for peacemakers and an end to world conflict.
The month of May reminds us of the gentle love of Our Lady. Let us not forget our rosaries that they may help us pray and meditate on the mysteries of the life of Christ. There are four groups of mysteries, all listed on the beautiful icons on the back of the church wall. We also look forward to the School May procession which is to take place this week.
Please note that there is no Tuesday evening Mass due to conference commitments. Journey in Faith will be a self-contained plenary session.
This Sunday is also a preparation Mass for those children receiving Holy Communion for the First time this year. We ask you to pray for them and their families that the presence of Christ in their lives will be a fruitful blessing.
Meanwhile take care and keep safe in the care of Jesus our Lord!
God bless,
Father Anton s.c.j.
