Father Anton's Weekly Column
This Sunday is “Evangelii Gaudiem Day” or “The Joy of the Gospel.” The word Gospel, itself means Good News! Jesus gave the news of redemption to his disciples, the good news of the salvation of the world and it was to be done through the love of him, our saviour. Sometimes I think the world’s population only see the gospel as a burden upon their back, restricting them of their freedom, when it is trying to do exactly the opposite and give us true freedom, especially that of mind heart and soul.

News From the Pews
New Orleans is a unique city with an identity all of its own. St Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square has two shops. The one in the Cathedral itself is a traditional 'piety' shop, but the Cathedral Shop nearby has a different take on its goods, and some may feel that its tone is irreverend. Hawkeyed parishioners will no doubt be on the lookout for the item I purchased, but perhaps our piety stall will take note?
N.B. AD is no longer universally used and the year has been challenged by some historians.
