Twenty Seventh Sunday Year A
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This week we have celebrated St Teresa of Lisieux, the little flower, a Saint noted for her humility and simplicity, a virtue that our busy lives does not always. She became a Carmelite Nun and entered at a very young age after applying to Rome to allow Her early entry. We also had the Feast of the Guardian Angels, a reminder that Christ taught us that each of us has a little angel appointed to look after us. What a beautiful and simple thought support by the life of St Teresa. "Unless we become like little children, we cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

Friday 16th October is the Ashley Parish Harvest Supper At 7pm in Oddfellows Hall.
On Saturday 17 October, the Youth Group are attending Go with Hope, a free day at Oscott College for young people (Year 7-13) focusing on the Jubilee Year of St Francis. Between 6th-8th November, they are going to Alton Castle for the parish youth group retreats ‘Fearless’ and ‘Limitless.’ This is for Years 5-13.

A Catholic's First Saturday Night On Holiday
I wonder how many parishioners will be able to remember the ritual that always seemed to accompany Catholic families on the first Saturday night on holiday in a new place? In those pre-internet days, there was the essential search for the Catholic Church and then the times of Sunday Masses (vigils were not an option.) Holidays were always taken in my formative years in 'the peak weeks' which were the last in July and the first in August. British Rail put on a number of local holiday specials from our station, and this often dictated the choice of holiday towns on offer.
